We all love summer, long pool days, lake or beach days, barbecue weekends…anything to soak up as much sun as possible. Now, we are not sure how you feel about the endocrine disruptors found in the conventional sunscreen, but we are not fans. That is why we make our own natural sunscreen!
The endocrine disruptors we mentioned interfere with our endocrine system, and are not doing any favors to our hormones. The sad part is that there is no way to wear sunscreen without going through the side effects of it. Once you apply it on yourself, it gets absorbed and it reaches everything in its way to the cells and organs.
After all, the skin is the biggest organ, and we have to find ways to protect it from UVA/UVB rays without disrupting our hormones work. That is where this natural sunscreen comes into play. We don’t get burnt, but it does need to be reapplied after swimming or sweating, since it is not waterproof. We also reapply it every hour and a half, generously.
There is a bit of a white shine, but it is barely noticeable. This is actually a good thing, because it sits on top of the skin instead of getting under it. The reason why conventional sunscreens cause problems is because they get absorbed into your skin.

How to prepare your own Homemade Sunscreen:
- Organic Coconut Oil – 1/2 cup
- Shea Butter – 1/2 cup
- Organic Beeswax – 1/4 cup
- Carrot Seed Oil – 1 tsp (this is optional)
- Lavender Essential Oil – 20 drops
- Non-Nano Zinc Oxide – 4tbsp
Get a cooking pan and place it over low heat. Melt the beeswax, coconut oil and shea butter in it. Stir until everything melts. Once everything is homogeneous, remove it from the heat and add the essential oils and the non-nano zinc oxide. Keep stirring everything until you get a fine blend. The sunscreen is now done, and you can transfer it to small jars to cool.
